“MPC has been transformational, it has also opened our eyes to the struggles that other couples faced especially our wonderful presenting couples.”

1. Who is MPC for?

MPC is for couples who are seriously contemplating marriage, who want to be sure that they are ready for marriage and that they are suited for each other. It is for couples who wish to avoid surprises after marriage by preparing for that marriage. The course should be attended preferably before your engagement is formally announced and at least 6 months before the wedding date.

2. Can Non-Catholics Attend the Course?

At least one partner must be Catholic. The course is Catholic in its theology of marriage as a Sacrament of the church.

3. Does MPC respect our privacy?

Yes. MPC emphasizes communication between couples. Presentations are given to the group as a whole, but your couple discussions are private. You are encouraged to concentrate on your partner and to get in touch with your deepest and honest feelings when discussing a variety of topics.

4. How does MPC prepare us for Marriage?

MPC provides the opportunity for you to be open with your partner – a time together to talk honestly about your future lives. The course will also help you to know yourself in the areas where you are vulnerable, your needs and your expectations. You will also learn to discover your partner’s strengths and weaknesses. These discussions will enable you to know each other more intimately. You will then understand why both of you behave the way you do and the likely consequences of this on your future life together as husband and wife.

5. When are courses conducted?

Four MPC courses will be held each year. Each courses runs for six consecutive weeks. There is a fair amount of preparation that needs to be done in between sessions. As every session builds upon the previous sessions into an integrated programme, no part of the course should be missed. Please plan accordingly for the duration of the course (eg. during the course period, please do not plan a very hectic schedule, overseas trips, etc.) so as to allow your fullest participation. Thank you.

6. When should we attend MPC?

Couples planning to marry are advised to attend the course at least 9-12 months before the wedding date. Accordingly, do register suitably in advance of your course start date.

Couples planning to marry in a Catholic Church can also find out more info from a priest and submit your application to MPC when you are ready.

7. How much does it cost?

The course fee is S$250.00 per couple payable in advance when you submit your application form. Payment should be by crossed cheque or money order payable to Marriage Preparation Course together with your application form. Payment is not refundable. However no couple will be turned away for financial reasons. Please inform us of any financial difficulties.
